Man Utd Boss Ruben Amorim Confesses He Cannot Escape Poor Performance
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim experiences the pressure during the 3-1 loss at Brentford
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim admits he cannot conceal from his poor performance and believes it is expected that club icons are commenting on him.
On Tuesday, the club's all-time scorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his podcast that "the soul has disappeared" from his former team.
The Portuguese manager has managed just 18 wins from his forty-nine games in charge, including 9 out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has yet to secure two successive wins.
While senior Old Trafford sources are insistent that the INEOS chief is still behind Amorim, an inability to defeat recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will trigger renewed speculation about his role heading into the upcoming two-week pause in domestic football.
"It is expected," said the Portugal-born manager, when asked about Rooney's observations. "One cannot run away from the outcomes."
"Additionally you have the legacy from last season, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."
Supporter Reaction and Present Situation
Manchester United's supporters remained supportive of Amorim following the previous campaign's dismal performance, when they ended up 15th in the league - their poorest showing since the 1973-74 demotion season - and were beaten in the Europa League showpiece, in the expectation that the current campaign would be substantially improved.
The manager assured supporters the position would get better because he had additional time to prepare with his squad without the weekly distraction of European football.
That is not been how the opening six games have developed as Manchester United have endured three losses already and are currently 14th in the standings.
Manager's Reaction to Questions
When questioned what promises he could give supporters that the situation will change, Amorim stated: "It's not the moment to say, it is the moment to prove."
"Personally look at the games this season and, for me, they are completely different, but I have nothing to add at present."
- Manchester United currently occupy the fourteenth position in the top flight
- Amorim has secured just eighteen of his 49 games in control
- The former striker recently criticized the team's present situation
- Saturday's match against Sunderland is crucial for Amorim's position
