New England tied their best victory streak from the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win bolsters the Patriots advantage at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had scored first at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to finish the New York's initial series
But the Patriots answered in the second period as the rookie scored two short rushing scores before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side wrapped up the win
