The Opening Xbox Game Pass Games of 2026 Demonstrate Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.
Across the gaming landscape, fans keep sounding the death bells for the Xbox brand. The platform was lately surpassed in sales by a relatively obscure console. Platform-specific outlets have started writing regarding Sony's platform as a new development. The past year represented complete chaos for Xbox and Microsoft. But if we're going solely off what's coming to Game Pass in 2026, it becomes clear that Xbox continues to plan to attract subscribers with strong games on its premier subscription.
The Current Inclusions
The two games that are immediately available at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. Rather, it's what is coming to Game Pass soon that's truly noteworthy.
Major Titles on the Horizon
Come mid-January, the platform will add the underappreciated Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that breaks up typical Ubisoft design with an intergalactic heist adventure. Another big get is Resident Evil Village and its giant Lady Dimitrescu, previously described as "a superb mixture of frights and fights."
Intriguing Niche Additions
Yet, the less-hyped additions set to join the catalog are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that's a blast to play, arrives January 7th — and it merits a playthrough even if you missed out on the first Lost in Random game.
The game set in a ruined Britain from last year might get its hooks in you within just a quarter of an hour.
Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, is also a game to check out. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.
A Solid, Curated Lineup
In summary, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, nor are they first-party juggernauts that validate the subscription alone. However, this batch of games are very dependable. The lineup provides a solid mix of older titles you may have skipped and fairly new titles that lacked the recognition they were due initially — transforming them into excellent choices to get a second chance on Game Pass.
Be prepared to bid farewell to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
