Texas Attorney General Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the producers of acetaminophen, claiming the corporations withheld alleged dangers that the pain reliever posed to pediatric neurological development.

The court filing arrives thirty days after Former President Trump promoted an unproven link between taking Tylenol - referred to as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism spectrum disorder in young ones.

Paxton is taking legal action against J&J, which previously sold the medication, the exclusive pain medication approved for pregnant women, and the current manufacturer, which presently makes it.

In a declaration, he stated they "deceived the public by profiting off of pain and marketing drugs without regard for the dangers."

The manufacturer says there is lacking scientific proof connecting Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These corporations lied for decades, knowingly endangering millions to boost earnings," Paxton, from the Republican party, said.

Kenvue said in a statement that it was "seriously troubled by the perpetuation of misinformation on the reliability of paracetamol and the likely effects that could have on the welfare of US mothers and children."

On its official site, the company also said it had "consistently assessed the applicable studies and there is no credible data that demonstrates a verified association between taking paracetamol and autism."

Groups representing doctors and medical practitioners share this view.

ACOG has said paracetamol - the key substance in acetaminophen - is among limited choices for women during pregnancy to address discomfort and fever, which can pose significant medical dangers if not addressed.

"In multiple decades of studies on the use of paracetamol in gestation, not a single reputable study has conclusively proven that the use of paracetamol in any stage of gestation results in neurological conditions in children," the association stated.

The court filing references latest statements from the former administration in arguing the drug is potentially dangerous.

In recent weeks, the former president caused concern from public health officials when he told pregnant women to "struggle intensely" not to use Tylenol when ill.

The FDA then issued a notice that doctors should contemplate reducing the consumption of Tylenol, while also declaring that "a proven link" between the drug and autism in children has remains unverified.

Health Secretary Kennedy, who supervises the Food and Drug Administration, had vowed in spring to conduct "comprehensive study program" that would identify the origin of autism in a matter of months.

But specialists advised that finding a single cause of autism spectrum disorder - thought by researchers to be the consequence of a complicated interplay of genetic and environmental factors - would prove challenging.

Autism spectrum disorder is a type of enduring cognitive variation and condition that impacts how individuals encounter and interact with the environment, and is identified using medical professional evaluations.

In his court filing, Paxton - a Trump ally who is seeking US Senate - claims the manufacturer and Johnson & Johnson "deliberately disregarded and sought to suppress the evidence" around paracetamol and autism.

This legal action aims to force the companies "destroy any commercial messaging" that asserts acetaminophen is reliable for women during pregnancy.

The court case mirrors the concerns of a group of parents of young ones with autism and ADHD who filed suit against the producers of Tylenol in two years ago.

The court rejected the case, declaring research from the family's specialists was not conclusive.
